I climbed the water tower
For the benefit of none
Where city sunsets silhouette...
Subjects in the sun
I still believe there's a way to know you
In spite of everyone
Yeah, I climb the water tower
For the benefit of none
Please understand, I have only one turn…..so spin me
I don't have to sell my story
I don't have to go
There's no need to run for cover
There's no need to know
Please understand, I have only one turn...so spin it
I climbed the water tower
For the benefit of none
Where city sunsets silhouette...
Subjects in the sun
I still believe there's a way to know you
In spite of everyone
Yeah, I climb the water tower
For the benefit of none
Please understand, I have only one turn...so spin me

WATER TOWER is a tale of a younger man, and it's straight ahead. It was inspired by the awe of a giant water tower that hovered over our Little League field in our small town. It was a commanding, and intimidating presence. As an adolescent, I fantasized about climbing it, and that conquering it would award me the badge of the risk taker. The song is a simple message about confronting fear and power, and embracing the dream of self-determination and escape.
