Three time zones from here
I think you're asleep
Three time zones from here
Where everyone retreats
And I'II beat you to that sunrise
I'II do it everyday
But you beat me to that darkness
It's always been that way
Three time zones from here
I think you're asleep
In the fading veneer
Where everyone retreats
You dance inside of hunger
And thrive on desert winds
Where love means next to nothing
It doesn't have to end…..no
Three time zones from here
I think you're asleep
Three time zones from fear
Where everyone retreats
And l'Il beat you to that sunrise
I'II do it everyday
But you'll beat me with your darkness
It's always been that way

THREE TIME ZONES is a contemporary western ballad, inspired by time spent passing through Barstow, California. Barstow feels culturally remote, a high-desert stop on the way to Los Angeles from Las Vegas. You sense your vulnerability here, especially as the sun goes down. Loneliness thrives while the big BNSF trains fly through on their way to the Pacific. Not every place is beautiful but it exists between the ones that are. One of the great phrases is about the grass that's always greener from a distance, yet there's not much grass around these parts. California can be seemingly full of opportunity, and inspiration yet its desolation is noticeable.
